1000 Books Before Kindergarten

1000BooksLogo

The Shelter Rock Public Library Children's Room invites you and your child to join the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten Program. This free program encourages you to read 1000 books before your child starts kindergarten - a goal experts say children need to help them learn to read. If you read just one book a day for a year that equals 365 books, 730 books in two years, and 1095 in three years!

  • Ongoing registration is for families with children from birth through age 5 not yet enrolled in kindergarten.
  • A book can be read more than once; repeated reading of favorite books is encouraged!
  • To sign up visit the Children's Room and pick up your book log. After logging 100 books your child will receive a prize and reading log for the next 100 books.
  • Upon completion of the program your child will receive a special certificate.
